Ingredients
- 1 Large Potato
- 1 Bowl Corn Kernels
- ½ Bowl Grated Cheese
- ½ Teaspoon Crushed Black Pepper Or Black Pepper Powder
- ½ Teaspoon Dried Basil Or A Few Fresh Basil Leaves
- ½ Teaspoon Dried Oregano
- ½ Teaspoon Garlic Paste
- 4 Tablespoon All-Purpose Flour
- Salt As Required
- Ambuja Gold Refined Soyabean Oil As Required – For Deep Frying
Instructions
For Preparing the Corn & Potato
- Add 1 Large Potato along with 1 Cup Corn Kernels in a pressure cooker with 1.5 cups water, and wait for 3-4 whistles.
- Turn off the gas and let the cooker cool down before opening the lid. Drain the water well, and ensure that there is no moisture left.
For Prepping the Corn Cheese Balls Mixture
- In a large bowl mash the boiled potatoes.
- Add the corn kernels to the same bowl.
- Next, add the grated cheese, ½ tsp garlic paste, ½ tsp black pepper powder and salt as per taste. Since cheese has salt, make sure you account for that as well.
- Then add ½ tsp dried basil, ½ tsp oregano and 4 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida).
- Mix all the ingredients well, and do a taste-test. Add some pepper or salt, if needed.
- Now, make 12-16 small balls using the prepared mix.
Frying the Corn Cheese Balls
- In a deep pan or a kadhai, heat 300-400 ml Ambuja Gold Refined Soyabean Oil.
- Once the oil is hot enough, gently slide the corn cheese balls one-by-one into the hot oil.
- Keep the flame on medium, and let the balls fry for about 1-2 minutes.
- As one side starts browning up, turn over the balls and fry until the other side is cooked completely
- Make sure all sides are evenly cooked and the balls are all golden brown in colour
- Remove the corn cheese balls on paper napkins and remove excess oil if any.
